Beginners Digital Photography Course
This course is designed for people with a digital camera who want to get the best out of it. You can learn with any digital camera with a fully manual mode, including: compact system, (micro-four thirds), Bridge camera, DSLR or compact cameras.

Highlights of the Beginners course
Knowing the architecture of your camera type.
Resolution and re-sizing for email or web applications and backing up photographs.
Camera handling and camera care.
Application of: ISO, Aperture and Shutter for exposure and creativity.
Causes of camera shake or shakey photos.
Capturing movement and freezing movement.
Using camera Modes : Program, Shutter and Aperture Priority and Manual mode.
Composition theories and techniques -rule of thirds, leading lines, symmetry.
Using on-camera flash effectively. Fill-in flash, writing with light.
How your camera focuses, using focusing modes; single shot, continuous, selective focusing, tracking etc.
Understanding lenses and focal length, angle of view, and learning how depth of field works.
Using a tripod effectively.
The main techniques of producing professional looking portraits.
The course will also cover the creative aspects of digital photography including composition, framing and cropping.
What are the course outcomes?
To increase understanding of digital photography and to gain confidence in using digital cameras. Understanding the practical and creative aspects of digital photography, learning about the features on your camera, including finding your own way around the menus and using camera controls and functions.
How will you be assessed?
By examples of images produced and manipulated during the course. Assessment and feedback on images produced and uploaded to a specially created group for the course on Flickr website.
